I am a maker following the good old fashioned principle of “make do and mend” but I bring this concept into the contemporary environmental and ethical context of “reduce, reuse and recycle”.
Why throw away an old shirt, jumper or a skirt when you can just as well put it to better use by re-purposing the fabric, wool, buttons and zips? These principles of re-using and recycling items were a prominent factor throughout my upbringing and I still apply them to my everyday life now.
I also apply them to the jewellery and craft items I make and incorporate into these not only re-purposed items, but found objects as well. My sewn items are all made out of old leather jackets, denim items, old skirts or curtains whereas the jewellery I make is fashioned mostly made from buttons, safety pins and beads. I have also started to explore the possibilities of combining silver wire with found pieces of eroded pottery and glass found on the beaches of Fife.
Because of the personal nature of the work and also the fact that it is all hand crafted, I have come up with the brand name “milomade” incorporating my surname with the word 'made'. It's simple and to the point and teamed with strapline “too good to watse” puts across in simple terms the philosophy behind my creations.
It's so nice to get some feedback on my products! Thanks for your comments! I've been making my own jewellery for myself for as long as I can remember and only recently decided to try selling stuff locally and online. I've not managed to sell anything on Dawanda yet, but getting lots of looks which can only be a good thing.

I love your designs, particularly your Blue Lagoon bracelet! It's gone on my pinboard!
And welcome to this community (I'm pretty new myself)...
